TikTok downloader not working? Find where the download stops

Separate a broken TikTok link from an unavailable source, an expired result or a browser download problem before you retry.

Does the original post still play?

Open the copied link in a normal browser. Confirm that it points to the actual post, rather than a profile, search page or message containing several links. Copy the address again from the post if it was cut off.

A post that plays only inside your signed-in account may still be unavailable to a public-link tool. TTDWN does not use your TikTok login. If the post is private, deleted or restricted, changing browsers will not make it publicly accessible.

Match the symptom to the next step

If no download options appear, the link check has failed. Read the error, verify the post type and try one other public post you are allowed to save. If only one post fails, the problem is likely specific to that source.

If options appear but preparing the file fails, the source may have changed or a temporary result may have expired. Submit the post link again to get a fresh result. If the browser starts a download and then stops, check the browser’s downloads list for a network or storage error.

  1. Check the source post and copy a fresh link.
  2. Use the matching downloader and wait for one request to finish.
  3. If the file is prepared, check your browser’s download history before starting another copy.
  4. If several public posts fail, check Service status and try again later.

When standard video works but HD fails

An HD failure does not mean the whole post is unavailable. A separate HD source may be absent or temporarily unreachable. The HD downloader reports that limitation rather than turning a standard file into an HD file.

If standard quality is enough, return to the video downloader. For a photo carousel, use the photo tool; an MP4 request is a different operation.

Send a useful problem report

Tell support which tool you used, the exact error, your browser and whether the failure happens before or after download options appear. Mention whether a second public post worked. Do not send passwords, session cookies or private links.

A service-status check covers TTDWN processing. It cannot confirm that every individual TikTok source is reachable. For a file that downloaded but disappeared from view, start with the iPhone file guide or Android file guide.

What we checked

These checks use generated local media and the same file-processing code as TTDWN. The upstream extractor is replaced with a local fixture; this is not a test of live TikTok availability or a physical phone.

The local checks also cover missing or duplicate HD sources, video-audio selection, image order and invalid media files. The test log identifies which behavior uses fixtures and which runs FFmpeg.

Reproduce the check from the repository with: npm run evidence:ttdwn

Documentation supports the platform and file-format explanations. Community discussions describe individual experiences and are not proof that a tool works for every post.
